Copper wire stolen from Hodges Supply
A Spokane Valley business was struck by a burglar overnight Tuesday, and copper wire was apparently the primary target.
An employee told officers that the suspect struck Hodges Supply, 11303 E. Montgomery Ave., sometime between 4 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday, said Spokane Valley Police spokesman Sgt. Dave Reagan. The thief broke out the glass in the front door, entered the firm and removed several spools of copper wire from a storeroom.
The suspect also found a pair of bolt cutters inside the business that was used to sever a padlock from a fenced area. Officers seized the bolt cutters and padlock for fingerprint examination.
The employee said the company’s loss included 16 50-pound spools of Nehring-brand No. 2 copper wire and one spool of Picard-brand bare No. 2 copper wire. Total monetary loss was more than $3,200.
Anyone with information regarding this break-in is encouraged to call the Spokane Valley Police at 242-TIPS.
Woman arrested on drug charge
A 26-year-old Spokane Valley woman was arrested early Thursday after an officer discovered her in possession of marijuana and methamphetamine during a roadside talk, said Spokane Valley Police spokesman Sgt. Dave Reagan.
Officer Mark Brownell spotted Kimberly A. Dunn, 4706 E. First Ave., walking along Sprague at 2:20 a.m. Thursday. He stopped and asked the woman if he could talk with her.
She agreed and told the officer she was headed to her home which she thought was in the 4800 block of East First Avenue. During the course of conversation, Brownell determined that Dunn had prior drug history and she was carrying a plastic container that contained marijuana and two small baggies of methamphetamine.
He arrested Dunn for possession of methamphetamine and booked her into the Spokane County Jail on the felony charge. A misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana is pending.
