Nic Fowler went 2 for 2 and drove in two runs as Mt. Spokane topped Kennewick 7-4 Saturday in a 3A baseball regional winner-to-state, loser-out game at Mt. Spokane.

The Lions built a 4-1 lead after two innings but the Wildcats scored twice in the fourth and four times in the fifth to cap the scoring.

Andy Pittz added two RBIs for Mt. Spokane (21-3), which advances to the state tournament round of 16 Saturday in Yakima. Games are scheduled at Parker Field at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Earlier at Mt. Spokane, the Wildcats routed Southridge 16-3 in a loser-out game. Pittz hit a three-run triple to spark a 10-run first inning. Jarek Cunningham added three hits and five RBIs for Mt. Spokane. … Kamiakin beat Kennewick in the championship and will advance to regionals as the No. 1 seed Saturday in Yakima.

Mary Geuttinger and Travis Cooper each hit three-run home runs as Pullman routed West Valley 18-5 in the District 7 2A championship game at Central Valley. The Greyhounds scored seven runs in the seventh to put the game out of reach. Pullman (16-5) advances to the regional tournament Saturday as the top seed. … Later at CV, Cary Conklin hit a two-run homer in the second and a two-run double in the third as Clarkston eliminated West Valley (16-7) 9-6. Trent Line added a three-run homer in the sixth for the Bantams (14-10), who advance to the regional tournament as the second seed. … Clarkston beat Cheney (12-11) 6-3 earlier in the day.

“Brewster routed Chewelah 11-1 in the championship game of the District 6/7 1A tournament in Moses Lake and will advance to the state tournament as the top seed. The Cougars (13-11) are the second seed. … Also in Moses Lake, Lakeside (20-1) beat Omak 2-1 to claim the third seed to the state tournament. The fourth and final seed went to Okanogan, which beat Freeman (13-9) 4-3. … Colfax (10-13) was eliminated after falling 10-4 to Omak.

“Colton beat Liberty Christian 2-1 in the District 9 1B tournament championship game at Washington State University and will advance to state as the top seed. Liberty Christian is the second seed. … Earlier at WSU, Colton beat St. John-Endicott 10-8 and Liberty Christian topped Garfield-Palouse 9-6.

Softball

Kelsie Vallies pitched a complete-game two-hitter as North Central routed Mt. Spokane (8-13) 10-0 in a District 8 3A playoff game at NC. Vallies also went 3 for 3 and scored three runs for the Indians (17-4). Both teams will advance to the regional tournament, which starts Saturday at Richland.

Jessica Johnson hit a two-run double in the top of the seventh and fifth-seeded Medical Lake topped fourth-seeded West Valley 7-4 in a District 7 2A loser-out playoff game at WV (12-9). Johnson also earned the win for the Cardinals after allowing seven hits in the complete game. Medical Lake (9-10) advances to play top-seeded Colville (19-0) on Wednesday. … In other tournament action, Clarkston scored three unearned runs in the bottom of the fifth and beat visiting Cheney 4-2. Jessi Labish had three hits to lead the Blackhawks (6-15). Clarkston (10-11) advances to play second-seeded Pullman (15-4) on Wednesday while Cheney’s season is finished.

“Kettle Falls scored five runs in the fifth and beat Colfax 5-3 in the District 7 1A championship game in KF. Chelsea Brisbois hit a two-run single to put KF ahead 5-2. Naomi Daniels earned the win for the Bulldogs after allowing six hits in the complete game. With the win, KF (15-8) is the top seed heading into regionals Thursday at its home field. … Earlier at KF, Colfax beat Freeman 4-1. Sadie Lazzarini picked up the win for the Bulldogs after pitching the complete game. Colfax (15-6) is the second seed heading into regionals. … Earlier, KF topped Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) 4-2. Brisbois’ two-run single sparked a three-run first-inning for KF. Lakeside (14-6) is the third seed into regionals. … Lindsay Ruland drove in four runs as Freeman routed Newport 14-3 in five innings. The Scotties (13-8) advance to play the Caribou Trail League fifth seed Tuesday. … Colfax beat Chewelah 2-1 in an earlier game. Daniels limited the Cougars (10-11) to one run on six hits.

Track and field

The Freeman and Newport boys tied for first at the District 7 1A meet at West Valley. The Grizzlies’ Adam Walden won the 110-meter hurdles in 14.91 seconds and took the 300 hurdles in 41.04 to lead Newport. Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) took third, followed by Colfax.

On the girls’ side, Lakeside’s Kelli Tikker won the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 1 inch and placed second in the long jump at 16-4 1/4 as the Eagles won the team title. Chewelah was second, followed by Freeman.

“The St. George’s boys and girls took the team titles at the Panorama League championships in Colville. For the boys, Blain Nicholls won the 200 (23.16) and the 400 (53.57) and Brian Angove won the 800 (2:05.37), 1,600 (4:45.30) and the 3,200 (10:39.69) to lead the Dragons to victory. Inchelium won the 1B title. The Hornets were led by Andy Hill, who took second in the high jump with a height of 4-8.

On the girls’ side, the Dragons were led by Jordan Apele. Apele won the 100 (13.21), 200 (27.41) and javelin (101-2). Curlew won the 1B title. The Cougars were led by Larissa Miller, who took first in the 3,200 (12:42.06).

This meet was a qualifier for the District 7 2B tournament and the 1B regionals.
