Sometimes, work is entertainment

Debra Carroll The Spokesman-Review

Editor’s note: Debra Carroll is a supervising producer for Spokane-based Corner Booth Productions.

In the entertainment media, my line of work, CNN takes a backseat to HollywoodReporter.com, so I start every morning with a hot cup of Yerba mate and http://cynopsis.com.

It gives me the CliffsNotes on the industry and a quick overview of what’s happening in the world of television. It also has Cynopsis Digital at www.cynopsis.com/ content/view/2271/80/ to keep you plugged in to what’s current on the tech side.

Pet friends

We’re lucky enough to have pure inspiration running around our office every day in the form of a little white Scottie named Charlie. It’s impossible to have a bad day with that guy running around, so we like to reward him with goodies from stylish pet retailer Highmaintenance bitch.com. They also have a ME!OW section for all the kitty lovers.

Hardcore dog or cat lover? Check out Puppywar.com or Kittenwar.com.

Personal distractions

I’ve found many a solution to an annoying problem at www.toptipsforgirls.com. It’s an interactive advice site, so if you need help with anything from how to remove gum from hair or hair from anywhere, someone out there has the answer!

For finding pretty much anything, the online classifieds Craigslist.org is finally catching on here in Spokane. Love their “free stuff” page.

For some mind-numbing fun, the addictive game at www.k2xl.com/games/ boomshine usually does the trick.

Serious knitting

While producing a knitting show several years ago, I reluctantly had to learn the craft. After much kicking and screaming, I succumbed to what has now become my mad, passionate obsession. www.knitty.com is my best enabler, with loads of free patterns and plenty of fellow knitters.

Staying centered

I love my daily e-mails from Dailycandy.com letting me know what’s hot, new or unique, as well as from www.abraham-hicks.com for my daily dose of well-being. Peace!
