Nationals 6, Braves 4: At Washington, Ryan Church hit a go-ahead, three-run double, the Nationals’ bullpen provided five shutout innings, and Washington beat Atlanta.
Marlins 4, Pirates 3: At Pittsburgh, Josh Willingham and Miguel Cabrera doubled in runs during Florida’s eighth-inning rally, and the Marlins went on to beat the Pirates.
Astros 2, Giants 1: At Houston, rookie Hunter Pence homered for the second straight game and the Astros beat San Francisco. Giants slugger Barry Bonds was 1 for 3 with a single and a walk.
Rockies 5, Diamondbacks 3: At Denver, Brad Hawpe homered twice and drove in four runs to lead Aaron Cook and Colorado past Arizona. Diamondbacks third baseman Mark Reynolds doubled home two runs with his first major league hit.
Phillies 6, Brewers 2: At Philadelphia, Cole Hamels retired his first 18 batters and used one of baseball’s best changeups to strike out 11 in a win over Milwaukee.
Padres 3, Reds 2: At San Diego, Kevin Kouzmanoff walked with the bases loaded in the ninth inning to lift the Padres over Cincinnati. Kouzmanoff, hitting .137 entering the game, went 3 for 3.
Mets 8, Cubs 1: At New York, Jorge Sosa pitched seven-plus innings of one-hit ball, David Wright had two RBIs and the Mets beat Chicago Sosa allowed one run, walking three and striking out five.
Dodgers 5, Cardinals 4: At Los Angeles, pinch-hitter Wilson Betemit’s three-run homer with two outs in the fifth inning drove in the go-ahead runs, and the Dodgers beat St. Louis.
