A dance over baseball?
Did I read Mike Vlahovich’s article (“Sometimes you have to sit out a dance,” May 17) correctly? Four Ferris varsity baseball players opted to attend their senior prom instead of playing a playoff game with state berth implications?
In my time of playing high school ball that would be unheard of. That’s nothing short of mutiny. Had Ferris lost that playoff game (which it nearly did), I’m not sure how those four would be able to look at themselves in the mirror the next morning. We’re talking about a dance, for heaven’s sake. Dances will always be there, but you don’t make the state playoffs every year.
I like Vlahovich’s alternative of attending the game and leaving for the prom immediately afterward – the best of both worlds and the stuff that makes high school memorable.
