Holy Trinity welcomes new minister

Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 1832 W. Dean Ave., will celebrate the installation of its new pastor, Rev. Paul Lebens-Englund, included, with a festival Eucharist and community barbecue and open house June 3 at 2 pm.

Lebens-Englund has been at the church since January, but will be installed on the church’s feast day, Trinity Sunday.

He is a 1997 graduate of Evergreen State College, holds a master’s degree in divinity from the Church Divinity School of the Pacific and was ordained as a priest in the church in 2005.

He also serves half time at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.

Christian Youth Theater

The Christian Youth Theater will present “Disney’s Aladdin Jr.” Friday through Sunday and June 1 and 2 at the Bing Crosby Theater, 901 W. Sprague Ave.

Performaces will be at 7 p.m. Friday, at 3 and 7 p.m. Saturday and at 3 p.m. Sunday. On June 1, the performance will be at 7 p.m., and June 2 the curtain will rise at 3 and 7 p.m. Tickets are $7 for kids 12 and younger and $8 for adults.

Special services

Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1703 N. Washington St., will offer special services this weekend.

Saturday at 9:30 a.m., the church will hold a Saturday of the Souls Divine Liturgy and memorial service at the church.

There will also be Memorial Services at Riverside Cemetery, 211 N. Government Way, at noon.

The church will observe Pentecost services Sunday with an Orthros service at 9 a.m., Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m., and a Kneeling Vespers service at 5 p.m.

A parish feast day dinner will follow the last service and will include area sister parishes and guest speaker Rev. Bill Caldaroni.

Monday, the church will hold an icon presentation and slide show at 7 p.m.

Spiritual cinema

Unity Center of North Spokane, 4123 E. Lincoln Road, will present “Michael,” starring John Travolta, Andie MacDowell and William Hurt Friday at 7 p.m.

The PG-rated movie follows two reporters from a tabloid who are sent to investigate a claim from a woman who says her new roommate is a real archangel.

Admission is by donation.
