Small spaces can be plant places

Interested in gardening but lack space?

Phyllis Stephens, gardening expert known as the “plant lady,” will discuss gardening in small spaces at a free public event Tuesday.

People attending are encouraged to bring a lawn chair.

Museum holds open house

The city’s history will be on display next Thursday at Post Falls Museum’s season-starter open house.

The soft opening will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at the museum’s new home at 214 E. Railroad Ave., said Sharon Alexander, president of the Post Falls Historical Society. Refreshments will be available.

Alexander cautioned that the museum – housed in two portable trailers – still is under construction.

“We want people to know it’s not done,” said Alexander, adding that painting and skirting on the trailers still need to be finished.

The museum had been without a home since last summer, when it was moved out of the Malloy Building, a city-owned structure, to make way for Post Falls’ new City Hall.

The museum typically operates from May through Labor Day, but hours of operation haven’t been decided for this season, Alexander said. Community members may schedule appointments to view the historical artifacts.

The historical society is looking for volunteers to help at the museum, Alexander said.
