In brief: First Valleyfest meeting June 5
Valleyfest’s first organizational meeting will be June 4 at 5 p.m. in Mirabeau Point Park’s shelter.
The meeting is open to anyone interested in helping with the Valley’s largest civic event. Organizers encourage volunteers to bring a friend. For more information, call the Valleyfest Office 922-2399.

Sign up for craft fair
Edgecliff SCOPE is planning its annual craft fair, lining up vendors, live music, food and a car show.
The event will take place July 21, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Edgecliff Park.
Vendors can sign up for $20 by contacting Debbie Kirkpatrick with the Edgecliff SCOPE office at 522 S. Thierman Road, 477-6345.
Food vendors must have a health permit.
To enter a car in the car show, contact the SCOPE office with the year and model.

VFW hosting Revolver
The Beatles cover band Revolver will play at VFW Post 1435, 212 S. David Road, June 2.
Dinner will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and the show is from 8 to 10. Tickets are $25 for both or $15 for the show only. For more information call 535-9315.

PONDEROSA
Outdoor student concert Friday
An outdoor free concert at Ponderosa Elementary School will give families a chance to enjoy music and bring a picnic meal.
Concert on the Green features the Titan Jazz Choir of University High School, the U-Hi Percussion Ensemble and the Ponderosa Pinetones at 6 p.m. Friday at the school playground on the south side of the building. The concert will be moved inside in the event of inclement weather.
Ponderosa Elementary is at 10105 E. Cimmaron Road.

Student strings concert planned
Audiences have another chance to catch musical talents at the 2007 Central Valley School District Strings Concert. Students will perform Rossini, Bach and Holst as well as Western fiddling at a concert featuring orchestra students from the entire Central Valley School District.
The concert is scheduled at 7 p.m. June 7 in the University Center (the old U-Hi), 10304 E. Ninth Ave. Admission is free.
