In brief: Broncos receiver passes test to remain on team
Broncos receiver David Kircus’ job is no longer in jeopardy over allegations he threw a punch that landed a man in the hospital with multiple facial fractures in Denver.
Coach Mike Shanahan, who had pledged to release Kircus if it was determined he was at fault in the fight, said Tuesday that Kircus passed a lie detector test administered by an expert. Kircus will remain with the team regardless of the legal outcome of his case.
“The NFL Players Association is supporting Tennessee Titans cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones’ appeal for leniency to league commissioner Roger Goodell.
“Your suspension of Jones without pay for the entire 2007 season is clearly excessive and much greater than discipline imposed upon other players for the same or similar incidents,” the NFLPA said in a letter to Goodell May 23.

Bans handed out
In Vienna, Austria, the Austrian Olympic Committee imposed lifetime Olympic bans on 14 team officials linked to the blood doping scandal at the 2006 Turin Games.
The 14 would be denied accreditation for all Olympics, and any Austrians found guilty of a doping offense in the future will be banned for life from the Olympics, AOC president Leo Wallner said at a news conference after a special executive board session.
“Three cross-country skiers from Kazakhstan and one from Russia were given two-year doping bans by the International Ski Federation in Oberhofen, Switzerland.
