Red Sox 4 Indians 2: At Boston, Josh Beckett returned from the disabled list to win his eighth consecutive decision, pitching seven innings of three-hit ball to lead the Red Sox over Cleveland. He struck out seven and walked one.

Blue Jays 3, Yankees 2: At Toronto, Alex Rios hit a go-ahead sacrifice fly in the eighth inning to lead the Blue Jays to a win over New York. Aaron Hill stole home for Toronto. Andy Pettitte allowed three runs and six hits over 7 1/3 innings. He struck out three and walked one.

Tigers 14, Devil Rays 2: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Gary Sheffield homered twice and drove in five runs, and Jeremy Bonderman won his fourth straight start as Detroit cruised past Tampa Bay. Bonderman gave up two runs and four hits over 6 1/3 innings.

Twins 9, White Sox 2: At Minneapolis, Justin Morneau homered and drove in four runs and Minnesota beat Chicago. Morneau went 3 for 4 and Jason Kubel added a two-run homer to complement another strong start from Boof Bonser. Michael Cuddyer and Luis Castillo each had three hits for the Twins.

Orioles 6, Royals 2: At Kansas City, Mo., Jeremy Guthrie pitched seven strong innings, Ramon Hernandez drove in two runs and Baltimore beat the Royals. Guthrie allowed two runs and three hits.

Rangers 4, Athletics 0: At Oakland, Calif., Sammy Sosa lined a two-run single to left that got by a charging Shannon Stewart, breaking a scoreless tie in the sixth and helping Texas earn a victory over the Athletics. Mike Wood allowed five hits, struck out three and walked five for the Rangers.
