Library closing for holidays

The Coeur d’Alene Public Library will be closed Monday due to the Veterans Day holiday. The library will resume normal hours Tuesday at 10 a.m.

The library will also be closed Nov. 22 for Thanksgiving, but will be open Nov. 23.

Scholarship winner named

North Idaho College student Gary Clark of Post Falls was among 30 post-secondary students in the nation selected for a $500 scholarship award from the Cisco Learning Institute.

Clark is in his second year of the Computer Information Technology program at NIC.

Scholarships were awarded based in part on Cisco Networking Academy Program course grades, which is part of the Computer Information Technology curriculum. Other criteria included past experience and community involvement.

The scholarship awards are presented by the Cisco Networking Academy Program in partnership with the Cisco Learning Institute, a nonprofit organization committed to innovation in education.

NIC plans Jubilee event

Community members are welcome to participate in the planning of North Idaho College’s Diamond Jubilee, a 75th anniversary celebration, which will be held during he 2008-09 academic year.

A planning meeting will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday in the Driftwood Bay Room of NIC’s Edminster Student Union Building.

Those interested in providing input are welcome to attend. No RSVP is necessary.

Fire district receives grant

The Timberlake Fire Protection District has successfully completed all the Homeland Security requirements of the approximately $264,000 Assistance to Firefighters Grant, according to Sam Scheu, president of the District’s governing board.

As a result of the support, the District purchased a new air compressor and fill station, 26 sets of firefighting safety gear, 30 self-contained breathing tanks and air-purification systems for fire station garages.
