Senior Helpers assists the elderly in their homes

Juan Juan Moses The Spokesman-Review

There’s a new business that caters to the needs of the region’s senior citizens. Senior Helpers, which specializes in personal and companion in-home care for seniors, was founded by 28-year old Mike Godek of Spokane Valley last year and has since emerged as a provider of the in-home care-giving field.

“We provide in-home care to help people keep the most important assets in their life – to remain in their home, where their memories are,” said Godek, who started the business when he saw the pressing need and demand for senior care in the Spokane and Coeur d’Alene area.

“It is a great fear for many elderly folks to make the transition to assisted living. Our services help them keep their independence as long as possible in their own house.” Godek said.

Senior Helpers provides services such as companionship, personal hygiene assistance, medication reminders, meal preparation, errands and transportation, arrangement and escort to appointments, and any form of housekeeping. Godek strives through his business to bring order to his clients’ daily life in the comfort of their own homes.

Besides serving the senior population, the company works closely with area medical rehabilitation centers to follow up on the needs of patients recovering from major injuries or illness.

“These are very important times, when a person comes home from hospital or rehab. We provide these services so that the patients can focus on their recovery.” Godek said.

Senior Helpers also provides in-home services to people with special needs, such as MS patients, dementia patients or people suffering from a disability. According to the business’ brochure, caregivers at Senior Helpers are the “cream of the crop,” completely committed and highly qualified individuals who are insured, bonded and who go through criminal and professional background checks before they are sent out to the field.
