Internet safety event Thursday
Parents, grandparents and interested community members are invited to attend an important and timely presentation about Internet safety.
Spokane Valley Sheriff’s Deputy Travis Pendell will present “Internet Safety for Your Child” on Thursday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at McDonald Elementary, 1512 S. McDonald Road.
The interactive presentation will address the dangers faced by children using the Internet and offer tips to parents to help keep children safe while they are online. Parents will also be introduced to resources including NetSmartz, a Web site devoted to keeping kids and teens safer on the Internet at www.netsmartz.org.
The presentation is part of Central Valley School District’s Safe and Drug Free Schools grant. Internet safety is addressed with students across the district as part of the district’s personal safety curriculum. And media specialists in Central Valley school libraries are addressing Internet safety through NetSmartz in their work with students.
