Boise State rolls over Utah State
Taylor Tharp completed 26 of 29 passes for 283 yards and two touchdowns in just three quarters as No. 19 Boise State beat Utah State 52-0 Saturday at Logan, Utah.
The Broncos won their eighth straight and did nothing to hurt themselves in the next rankings as they try to make a late run in the BCS standings and crack the Bowl Championship Series for a second straight year.
Boise State overwhelmed the hapless Aggies, who have lost 16 in a row and were down by two touchdowns barely 6 minutes into the game.
Boise State’s Ian Johnson had 110 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries.
(2) LSU 58, Louisiana Tech 10: At Baton Rouge, La., Matt Flynn passed for 237 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Tigers (9-1) to a triumph over the Bulldogs that could lift LSU back to the top of the national rankings.
Flynn’s scoring strikes included a career-long 71-yarder to Terrance Tolliver, which was also a career long reception for the freshman receiver.
That was LSU’s longest play from scrimmage this season until Jacob Hester broke loose for a career-best 87-yard touchdown run.
(14) Hawaii 37, Fresno State 30: At Honolulu, Colt Brennan tied the NCAA career mark for touchdown passes, throwing his 121st before he was knocked out of the game after a jarring hit by linebacker Marcus Riley, and the Warriors defeated the Bulldogs.
Brennan was 28 of 39 for 396 yards and two touchdowns.
San Jose State 51, New Mexico State 17: At San Jose, Calif., Adam Tafralis threw for 317 yards and two touchdowns, setting a school record for career total offense in the Spartans’ win over the Aggies.
Dwight Lowry intercepted his fifth pass of the season for the Spartans.
