Pirates finish unbeaten in NWC
Adam Anderson rushed for 92 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries and caught two passes for 29 yards and a score to lead the Whitworth Pirates to a 34-13 victory over the Puget Sound Loggers in Northwest Conference football play Saturday in Tacoma.
The 20th-ranked Pirates went unbeaten in conference play for the second straight season.
Kory Kemp completed 16 of 23 passes for 195 yards and two TDs for the Whits.
Chris Ahsing finished with 92 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries for Whitworth. Receiver Steve Silva tallied seven catches for 77 yards and Joey Vanhoomissen caught a 7-yard pass for a score.
The Pirates led 34-0 before the Loggers scored twice in the final seven minutes of the game.
Whitworth outgained Puget Sound 510-280.
The Pirates, who lead the NCAA Division III in turnover margin, recovered three fumbles and picked off two passes. Ryan Marshall led the way with an interception and a fumble recovery.

Pacific Lutheran 17, Willamette 10: The Lutes (7-2, 4-2 Northwest Conference) scored two first-quarter touchdowns and then held on for a victory over the Bearcats (4-6, 3-3) in Salem, Ore.
Willamette’s only TD came when senior running back C.J. Washington, a Shadle Park High graduate, hooked up with quarterback Ryan Whitcomb for a 54-yard score.
Nebraska-Omaha 59, Central Washington 21: The top-ranked Mavericks (10-0, 8-0) had four scoring plays of 60-plus yards en route to a rout of the fourth-ranked Wildcats (8-2, 6-2) in North Central Conference action at Tomlinson Stadium in Ellensburg.
The Mavericks scored on an 81-yard run by Nate Wurth, an 80-yard kickoff return by Keith Eloi, a 60-yard run by Wurth and an 80-yard run by Brian McNeill.
Minnesota State 48, Western Washington 24: Ben King threw four second-quarter touchdown passes and the Mavericks (5-6, 3-5 NCC) rolled to a victory over the Vikings (2-8, 1-7) in Bellingham, Wash.
King finished with five TD passes, completing 40 of 54 tosses for 429 yards.
The Vikings dropped their final five games of the season and had their worst season since a 1-9 showing in 1983.
