Follow trail rules

The Spokesman-Review

I hope that Inland Empire Paper Company is able to control winter recreationists’ damage to IEP’s trees. I imagine the damage is unintentional, but it isn’t fair to IEP to lose money while providing Spokane with an incredible winter recreation.

IEP has always been a good neighbor and their gift of free access to their land is deeply appreciated.

I observed a simple sign posted on a combination hiking/mountain biking trail near Bend, Ore., change nearly every mountain biker into considerate riders who would actually stop and dismount for hikers. The sign listed the rules of the trail for mountain bikers and ended with the statement that if the rules were not observed, the trail would be closed.

I hope that IEP can find a simple solution to their problem. Many thanks to IEP for continuing to allow access to all of us winter recreationists.
