Community board holding elections

The Post Falls Community Volunteers, a group dedicated to improving the quality of life in the city, is holding board elections Monday.

The organization works with nonprofit groups to help with community projects and events, such as the summer concerts in the park and the community picnic.

Current board members include Chris Pappas, Kristy Johnson, Joni Clevenger, Rich Houser, Jill Moses, Curtis Parks, Larry Bledsoe, Todd Tondee and Dave Fair from the Post Falls Parks and Recreation Department.

The positions held by Moses, Parks, Bledsoe and Tondee are up for election, but only Tondee has indicated he is running for re-election, according to a press release from the group.

Only dues-paying members are allowed to be elected to the board. The ballot for the two-year terms includes Tondee, Alan Wolfe, Paula Rehrman, Jackie McAvoy and Tim Moses.

New drop for utility customers

A second drop box for Post Falls City utility customers has been added at Panhandle State Bank, 3235 E. Mullan Ave.

Utility customers may also use the drop box at City Hall, or make payments online at https://postfallsidaho. dpnetbill.com.

Communicate with troops

“Giving Thanks,” a new program from America’s Defense Department’s America Supports You program, has arranged for holiday communications with U.S. military personnel deployed around the world, according to the American Forces Press Service.

Between 6 a.m. on Saturday and midnight next Thursday, anyone wishing to express gratitude to the troops for their service can text a brief one- or two-line message to 89279.

“We know that thousands of families will be sitting down for Thanksgiving dinner and thinking about loved ones who are far away from home serving their country. We are counting on other American families to take a moment during their holiday celebration to think of those families and their family members who are serving and say, ‘Thanks’,” said Allison Barber, deputy assistant secretary of defense for internal communications.

Fine Arts Festival at Lakes Bible

Lakes Bible Academy in Rathdrum invites the public to the second annual Fine Arts Festival and Silent Auction at 6:30 p.m. this evening.

A display of artwork by the students will include displays of their original designs in shadow art, pastels, chalks and charcoal.

Academic recitations in history, Greek and Latin, and musical performances in chimes, bells and the school choir will follow. The event is a fundraiser for the Academy. For more information, call 687-2101 or 651-0448.
