Cloudware (n.)
Much of what exists on the Web operates out there, in what insiders call the “cloud.” Cloudware, by extension, is the term for Web applications and services that store their data on several dispersed data centers, instead of inside two or three fixed servers. Usually, the data is stored simultaneously at several sites, allowing users quicker access depending on their distance from a given data center.
Examples of programs relying on cloudware are Skype, Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Google Maps and Windows Live.
