In brief: Holiday Ball fundraiser Friday
Spokane Valley Meals on Wheels’ Holiday Ball fundraiser will be Friday from 6 to 11 p.m. at CenterPlace at Mirabeau, 2426 N. Discovery Place.
The Holiday Ball features a catered dinner, auction and dancing to the Rhythm Method. Auction items include hand-painted chairs by area artists, a variety of themed baskets, round-trip airfare and a guided fly-fishing lesson on the Spokane River. The chairs, ranging from whimsical to elegant, can be seen are various Valley businesses.
Tickets are $75 each. Proceeds will be used to feed seniors in the community. Last year, the organization delivered more than 80,000 meals. For more information, call 924-6976.

Fun for kids at CVHS event
Parents looking for a Saturday night without their children can drop them off at the Kids’ Night Out fundraiser sponsored by the Central Valley High School golf team.
This year’s event will be Dec. 15, from 6 to 10 p.m. at CVHS, 821 S. Sullivan Road.
Registration is $12 per child or $10 for multichild families. Activities include open gym, cheerleading, games, video games, crafts, golf putting practice, movies and snacks. The night is for children kindergarten through sixth grade.
Children will be supervised by CVHS golfers, their families, coaches and wives and the school cheerleaders.

Register for Season of Sharing
Spokane Valley Partners will hold its 13th Season of Sharing gift giving program Dec. 18. This program provides gifts to low-income children living in the Spokane Valley.
Gifts will be distributed from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Spokane Valley United Methodist Church gymnasium, 115 N. Raymond Road.
Families must pre-register before Dec. 12 at the Spokane Valley Partners lobby, 10814 E. Broadway Ave. Items needed for registration include picture ID for the person registering, current mail or medical coupon to show address, and Social Security cards or medical coupon for all children. Gifts will be provided for children 18 years and younger.
Program director Sharon Hengy said donations of new, unwrapped gifts and stocking stuffers for all ages are greatly appreciated. Teen gifts are most needed. Spokane Valley Partners gives away about 1,800 gifts, plus stocking stuffers, and fruit and candy every year. Wrapping paper, bows, tape and candy are also needed.
Donations may be dropped off at the Spokane Valley Partners by Dec. 14. To volunteer or for more information, please call 927-1153, ext. 18.
