Secular path to truth
I was attempting to steer clear of writing letters regarding religion, but darned Michael Nicholl’s letter (“Faith is possessed,” Nov, 15) returned me to my independent wisdom to do so.
I don’t need some myth (lie) such as “Jesus Christ” (not a person) or “God’s Holy Spirit” possessing or motivating me to make opposite-valued choices in my life, whether good or evil.
Nicholl parroted The Jehovah’s Witnesses’ warped philosophy of heaven and hell. There are no such places like they want you to believe. No eternal damnation nor wrath. It’s a method of “brainwashing” and “control.” There is no proof or evidence intellectually, physically or materially.
Like my son told me, if someone tells him he’s going to hell for whatever “How bad can it be, I’ll get used to it.” In other words, the only place either exists is here on earth.
Who are you to “judge” – in violation of your beliefs – another person’s thoughts or their understanding or apostasy of “faith?”
So what is truth? And at least I’m asking! My foundation is based on “man” alone and freedom. Secular. Is that understood?
