Stars extend streak to six

Mike Modano scored his second goal of the game 35 seconds into overtime, Marty Turco made 23 saves and Dallas beat the New York Islanders 3-2 Monday night at Uniondale, N.Y., for the Stars’ sixth straight win.

Modano knocked in a rebound from the slot of Stephane Robidas’ shot to give the Stars’ their first win over the Islanders since March 23, 2001.

Sabres 3, Capitals 1: At Washington, Jochen Hecht had two goals and an assist to lead Buffalo to victory over the Capitals.

Bruins 6, Flyers 3: At Philadelphia, Glen Murray scored two goals to help Boston beat the Flyers.

Oilers 3, Blue Jackets 1: At Edmonton, Alberta, Andrew Cogliano scored the tiebreaking goal in the third period, Dwayne Roloson stopped 36 shots, and the Oilers defeated Columbus.
