College basketball: Paulus helps Blue Devils run past Badgers

Duke figured out how to make up for its size disadvantage against Wisconsin: Turn up the tempo.

Greg Paulus scored 13 of his 18 points during the decisive first half, and No. 7 Duke ran No. 20 Wisconsin right out of Cameron Indoor in an 82-58 rout Tuesday night at Durham, N.C.

Freshman Taylor King added 15 points in his second-straight strong game off the bench for the Blue Devils (7-0), who entered wondering how they’d contain a Wisconsin (5-1) front line that featured three players in the rotation who are 6-foot-10 or taller.

(3) Memphis 104, Austin Peay 82: At Memphis, Tenn., freshman Derrick Rose had 19 points and 12 assists, and the Tigers (6-0) shot 64 percent in a win over the Governors (2-4).

(11) Tennessee 93, North Carolina A&T 59: At Knoxville, Tenn., Chris Lofton scored 18 of his season-high 24 points in the first half and the Volunteers (6-1) beat the Aggies (4-3).

(14) Pittsburgh 80, Boston U. 53: At Pittsburgh, Ronald Ramon made all five of his 3-point attempts to score 15 points and the Panthers (6-0) put away the Terriers (1-5) early.

(15) Indiana 83, Georgia Tech 79: At Bloomington, Ind., Eric Gordon scored 29 points and D.J. White added 18 to help the Hoosiers (5-1) rally past the Yellow Jackets (3-3).

(18) Clemson 61, Purdue 58: At Clemson, S.C., K.C. Rivers’ soft floater with 31.2 seconds left broke a tie and sent the Tigers (6-0) to a victory over the Boilermakers (3-1).

Women

(3) Maryland 90, Pittsburgh 77: At College Park, Md., Crystal Langhorne had 15 points and 13 rebounds and the Terps (9-0) beat the Panthers (3-2).

(4) North Carolina 102, College of Charleston 58: At Chapel Hill, N.C., Cetera DeGraffenreid scored a game-high 19 points and the Tar Heels (8-0) routed the Cougars (0-3).

(9) Oklahoma 79, North Texas 42: At Norman, Okla., Courtney Paris had 19 points and 22 rebounds as the Sooners (3-2) beat the Mean Green (5-3).
