Give help, not money
Homelessness is an increasing problem in Spokane. We have people living on almost every street corner downtown. I am a student at Eastern and last year I did a project where I interviewed homeless people on the street corners of Spokane. I learned that the majority of the people who stand on the street corner asking for money are making an average $30 a day. They also receive food and have no bills to pay. I was told by one individual that he spends all his money that he receives per day on booze.
I believe this is a problem that needs to be fixed. I think that instead of people handing out money to the people standing on the street corner, they should give them food, something to drink or even a job. Any way they can think of helping them instead of contributing to their alcohol consumption is better for our economy and our city.
