Singer’s work more than story portrays

I just returned from seeing the exhibit of Rick Singer’s photographs at the Chase Gallery. Mike Prager’s article (Your Voice, Sept. 27) gave little hint of the inventiveness and richness to be found in Singer’s series of 159 portraits. It is almost as if the writer had not walked the two blocks from the Review Tower to City Hall to see the photographs of artists and arts supporters.

It could be argued that some coverage of the visual arts is better than none – even if the focus turns out to be historic or literary rather than visual. I think it is a missed opportunity. What if the editor had assigned photographers Brian Plonka or Jed Conklin to the story? Readers might have gained a better insight into the strength of Singer’s photographs as an art form.
