In brief: Harvest dinner next Saturday at Veradale United Church of Christ

The Veradale United Church of Christ will host its 67th annual Harvest Dinner next Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. The meal includes turkey with all the trimmings, ham and Swedish meatballs. The fall tradition is a fundraiser for the church at 611 N. Progress Road.

Pet blessing

The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection will have a blessing of the pets following the 8 and 10 a.m. worship services Sunday. The blessings are in honor of the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals. Pets should be appropriately caged or leashed. The church is at 15319 E. Eighth Ave.

Faith healing

Greenacres Christian Fellowship will host faith healer Tony Alward this week. He will speak at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday, as well as at 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. All are welcome to attend. The church is at Barker and Appleway roads. Call 465-3625 for more information.

Concert

The Valans Choir will perform in concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Spokane Valley Baptist Church. The Russian group performs Kievan chants, Russian polyphonic music of the 17th and 18th centuries, traditional folk songs and Greek, Serbian and Georgian church music. Admission is free but donations will be accepted. A free spaghetti dinner will be served at 6 p.m. before the concert. All are welcome to attend. The church is at 1222 S. McDonald Road. Church breakfast

A fundraising breakfast will be served from 7 to 11 a.m. Sunday at Christ Lutheran Church, 13009 E. Broadway Ave. The meal includes eggs, sausage, homemade applesauce and biscuits. The event is a fundraiser for the church’s Happy Helpers group, which helps maintain the church building. Donations will be accepted.

Garage sale

Opportunity Christian Church, 708 N. Pines Road, will host a garage sale next Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call 926-3691 for more information.
