Doba a liability at WSU
As a huge Coug fan, I am simply shocked how Bill Doba has kept his job. The Pac-10 is loaded with great coaches all around. Wazzu is the only one with a 60-something guy with only defensive coordinator credentials.
The athletic department has to know that fewer and fewer people are coming to games. The coach has no personality. Sure, he is one of the nicer guys I have seen roam a sideline. Nice guys don’t win.
I am scared for the future of the program. If you think the past few teams have been bad, look who they lose after this year. The best talent they have is gone and we are in the middle of a remodel to let fans enjoy better seating in the bathrooms. That will come in handy when I get sick of them from the quality of play we will see.
Wazzu needs to get someone with fire and a go-getter like (Mike) Price was, or even (Robb) Akey, who went to Idaho.
I know if I was a senior in high school, I would not consider WSU because of where the program is going. I hate the Huskies, but all it took was one good QB (Jake Locker) and the program is on the upswing. When was the last time WSU got a really big-name player to come here or even the best player in the state?
I hope it is worth it to pay little to keep Doba around and get worse every year. Pay more to have a better coach, put a better product on the field and people will come. Including me. Go Cougs.
