City of Spokane announces arts awards

The Spokane Arts Commission presented the City of Spokane Arts Awards on Monday, Oct. 1 at 6 p.m. in celebration of National Arts and Humanities month. Awards were presented at the Spokane City Council Meeting in the Council Chambers.

This year’s recipients include:

“Individual Artist – Peter Hardie, for continued artistic excellence as Spokane Civic Theatre’s resident scenic/lighting designer and technical director.

“Arts Organization – Inland Crafts, for its dedicated work towards promoting the appreciation and understanding of contemporary crafts,

“Arts in Education – Get Lit!, for encouraging a love of literature in people of all ages, and particularly through the Young Writers Program,

“Individual Benefactor – Sue Bradley, for her generous contributions of time, expertise and finances to all manner of arts activities throughout our community,

“Business Benefactor – Spokane Teachers Credit Union, for generous community support to a variety of arts organizations including programs of the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture and the Spokane Symphony,

“Arts Community Leadership – Troy Nickerson, for volunteering abundant talent and resources to help fund raise for many Spokane area non-profits,

“Special Achievement – Peter Thomas, for his love of dinosaurs with his unique talents to educate and delight the Spokane community.
