In brief: Valley Bowl fundraiser for Utts a ‘huge success’
Raising more than $11,000, Valley Bowl owner Lynn Gregory said the fundraiser for the Russ and Kendra Utt family last Saturday was a “huge success.”
“Our initial goal was $10,000,” Gregory said. “We exceeded that.”
All money raised goes to the Utt family to help pay medical expenses after their eight-week old son, Lincoln Walter Utt, died on July 14 of Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome.
The benefit included a live/silent auction, Links for Lincoln, a no-tap bowling tournament, spaghetti dinner and lane sponsorships.
The auction raised $5,970 for 105 items, including a carrot cake donated by Linda Watson that fetched $400, the highest overall bid. Valley Bowl co-manager Tim Minor was an auction item and sold for $300.
The Links for Lincoln raised $1,229 with each paper link representing one dollar a bowler donated in memory of Lincoln. Valley Bowl employees donated their salaries for the day, raising $370.
Donations are still being accepted at Valley Bowl, 8005 E. Sprague Ave., through the end of month. For more information, call 926-6245.
