It’s easy to root for Strong

I hope sports fans across the region take time to reflect on the career of Mack Strong. He represents everything good about pro sports. His work ethic, character, patience with the fans, and good humor were a gift to Seahawks fans everywhere.

He was the consummate team player – doing his job the best he could every play and really enjoying being part of something bigger than himself.

Having visited Seahawks training camp dozens of times with my young son, it was hard not to feel a special connection with Mack. The long-time veteran Seahawk, going to work every day like the rest of us, doing his best, and patiently rewarding fans with an autograph, a picture, and always a smile.

He’s genuine, and no one could possibly serve as a better role model for young athletes. He deserves to be in the Ring of Honor. If the Seahawks win the Super Bowl this year, no one would deserve a ring more than he. He’s one of those athletes, one of those people, you just feel better having been around even for a short while. It’s easy to root for a guy like that.
