Pickup seized in hit-and-run

From Staff Reports The Spokesman-Review

Spokane police went to Yakima on Tuesday to seize a Ford pickup they suspect was involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed a 77-year-old Spokane man.

Yakima police located the 2004 F-150 that reportedly crashed into a parking lot gate Sept. 30, striking Donald C. Seever, said Spokane police Officer Glenn Bartlett.

Seever died 10 days later from his injuries.

Bartlett said the truck is key to solving the case.

Police have a person of interest and received good leads from a Yakima officer, he said.

The pickup was illegally parked in a lot that Seever was closing down the night of the crash, police said. The driver hit the metal gate, which knocked Seever to the ground.

According to at least one witness, the driver smiled and waved as he drove away.
