In brief: Tickets available for quilt show, tea

The Warm Quilts and High Tea scheduled for Nov. 3 at East Valley High School has opened single-seat sales. Cost is $35 for the fundraiser, which includes the quilt show.

The high tea will be from 1 to 3 p.m. at 15711 E. Wellesley Ave. Hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served by the EVHS Honor Society. The school’s popular Strolling Strings will perform.

In addition hundreds of quilts will be on display from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Michele Crawford from Flower Box Quilts will be featured. Tickets for the quilt show are $5.

Reservations can be made by phone with a credit card by calling Spokane Valley Partners at 927-1153, ext. 13.

MS fundraiser Saturday

The 12th annual Octobrewfest is scheduled Saturday at the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center. It’s benefit for the Inland Northwest chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

There are silent and live auctions, gourmet root beer and tastings of wine and microbrews. (21 and over only). It starts at 6 p.m. Cost is $13 in advance or $15 at the door through Ticketswest.

Oktoberfest starts Friday

St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 503 N. Walnut Road, will hold its Oktoberfest extravaganza Friday and next Saturday.

The schedule includes an adult only sausage with kraut dinner Friday at 5 p.m., with beverages, music and dancing.

There’s a family carnival next Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with horseshoes, chipping and free-throw contests, tricycle races, food, beverages, music and much more. The event re-opens at 6 p.m. next Saturday for a sausage with kraut dinner (hot dogs for the kids), beverages, music, dancing, and a chance to try out your chipping skills in the dark with lighted golf balls. Learn to prevent ID theft Sunday

Learn how to prevent identity theft and how to detect scams at a presentation Sunday by Deputy Greg Snyder of the Spokane Valley Police Department.

Refreshments will be served. The event will be from 2 to 4 p.m. at Spokane Valley United Methodist Church, 115 N. Raymond Road. For information, call 924-7262.

Special council meeting Tuesday

A special Liberty Lake City Council meeting is scheduled Tuesday at 7 p.m. to interview and select a replacement for City Council Position 4 vacated by Joanna Klegin in August.

The two candidates are Phil Hamm and Odin Langford. The public meeting will be in City Hall, 22710 E. Country Vista Drive.
