Brandan Wright put back a missed shot with 45 seconds left in overtime Tuesday night to help the Golden State Warriors to a 126-122 victory over the Seattle SuperSonics at Seattle.

After Wright’s basket, Wally Szczerbiak hit a shot with 20 seconds left to draw the Sonics within two points, but the Warriors (4-2) hit a pair of free throws in the final seconds to hold on.

Szczerbiak had a chance to give the Sonics (1-5) the lead with 25 seconds left in regulation. He had tied the game at 113 with a fast-break layup and was fouled, but missed the free throw.

Damien Wilkins led the Sonics with 27 points. Szczerbiak scored 24, Chris Wilcox had 22 and rookie Kevin Durant had 21.

Golden State had a balanced offense with eight players in double figures, led by Matt Barnes with 16.

The Sonics (1-4), 29th in team defense after allowing 106.8 points per game, had given up 126, 117 and 126 points in their last three games.

Jazz-Lakers game canceled

The preseason game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Utah Jazz scheduled for Thursday night at San Diego was canceled because of the devastation caused by wind-whipped fires that forced at least 346,000 homes in San Diego County to be evacuated.
