101 pretty good ideas

Home & Garden Television The Spokesman-Review

A continuing compendium of tips and tricks from Home & Garden Television:

1. The best time to fertilize your lawn is in the fall with two applications of fertilizer. The only reason to fertilize in the spring is if you missed the fall application.

2. One of the most dramatic-looking fruits, the pomegranate has a uniquely tart flavor that is on the border of savory and sweet. Add fresh pomegranate seeds to a salad for an elegant touch at a dinner party or use the juice to create wonderful cocktails. Be careful when seeding or juicing, though, as pomegranate juice does stain. Whole pomegranates should feel firm and heavy and can be stored in the fridge for up to three months.

3. If you’re renting and can’t paint your walls, use fabric instead. Stretch fabric over canvases and mount on the wall. Or, attach fabric directly to the wall so it’s easy to take down and won’t cause damage.
