The Spokesman-Review

Tampa Bay 1, Red Sox 0: At Boston, Scott Kazmir struck out 10 and allowed just two runners to reach second base in seven innings as Tampa Bay beat Curt Schilling and the Red Sox. Kazmir allowed five hits and two walks. Besides Julio Lugo, who advanced on a two-out wild pitch, the only Boston runner to reach second against him was Bobby Kielty on a leadoff single in the seventh and a one-out walk to Jason Varitek.

Tigers 5, Blue Jays 4: At Detroit, Magglio Ordonez drove in Placido Polanco to cap a four-run rally in the ninth, spoiling a dazzling performance by Roy Halladay and helping the Tigers beat Toronto. Halladay was one out away from his eighth complete game when he gave up a pair of singles to Sean Casey and Brandon Inge. Halladay gave up three runs and 11 hits in 8 2/3 innings

Twins 4, Royals 2: At Kansas City, Mo., Jason Kubel and Justin Morneau each drove in a pair of runs and Boof Bonser picked up just his second victory in three months as Minnesota defeated the Royals. Bonser held the Royals to two runs and five hits in five innings, striking out six and walking four with a hit batter. The Royals stranded 10 runners.

Indians 6, White Sox 2: At Chicago, rookie Asdrubal Cabrera hit a tie-breaking two-run homer in the seventh inning and Fausto Carmona pitched seven solid innings to lead Cleveland to a rain-delayed victory over the White Sox. The game was delayed by rain after the seventh inning for 2 hours and 23 minutes. It resumed just before midnight and the last two innings were played before a few hundred fans. The game ended at 12:36 a.m.
