Fall sports kicking off for Rathdrum youth
Rathdrum Parks and Recreation Department recently completed fall registration for volleyball, flag football and fall soccer. Teams are now being assembled for the more than 500 area kids who signed up. Although registration is closed, Parks and Recreation Director Lance Bridges says latecomers are welcome to check in and see if there is still room on a team.
Co-ed volleyball will begin for third- through sixth-graders on Saturday at Lakeland Junior High. Those in third and fourth grades will learn proper volleyball techniques during the hourlong sessions, while fifth- and sixth-graders will combine instruction with half-hour games.
Kids in grades two through six will begin playing flag football on Sept. 22 at John Brown Elementary School’s baseball field. A mandatory preseason meeting for both divisions, second and third grade and fourth and sixth grade, will be held Saturday.
A mandatory preseason meeting for fall soccer also will be held on Saturday, with Saturday games beginning Sept. 22 at various fields around town.
Soccer divisions include: Mini-Mite – age 3-4; Mighty-Mite – age 5-6; Mega-Mite – age 7-8; U10 – kids 9-10 years old; and U12 – kids 11-12 years old.
