In brief: ‘Art of Recovery’ returns for second year

The Spokesman-Review

There’s an art to recovering from alcohol and drug addiction, and there’s art by those who are recovering. Both will be on display Saturday.

The second annual “Art of Recovery” event at Mission Park, 1200 E. Mission Ave., from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., will feature live music, art exhibits and testimonies by recovering addicts who find strength in their art.

Musicians, sculptors, painters, writers, dancers, photographers and jewelry or clothing artists will display their work and their progress.

Spokane County District Court Judge Richard White will address the Spokane gathering, which will be one of 40 similar events across the country.

Other sponsors include the Spokane Addiction Recovery Center and a group called Reaching Out-Advocating Recovery, which will provide lunch at discount prices.
