In brief: Equine playday Oct. 6 at Valley Mission Park
West Plains Community Fair will hold an equines day on Oct. 6 at the Valley Mission Park Arena.
This Long Ear Short Ear Equine Playday is open to all equines including horse, mules and donkeys. Ribbons and prizes will be awarded to each age group and the classes are barrels, team barrels, heart race, figure 8, flags, key pole, pole bending, musical sacks, boot race and ride-a-buck.
Entry fee is $4 per class or $30 all day. Registration is from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., and the show starts at 9 a.m. For more information on this event call MaryAnn Swift at 990-6846.

Race to Cub Scouting coming to Arena
The Inland Northwest Council will be holding the second annual Race to Cub Scouting event Sept. 27 at the Spokane Arena parking lot adjacent to the Spokane Service Center. The free event will run from 4 to 7 p.m.
Cub Scouts are encouraged to invite their friends who are not part of Cub Scouts. Attendees will get to meet race car driver Danny Nelson and have their picture taken in his yellow Ford Mustang. Participants will also get to try Nelsons racing simulator, drive Cub Mobiles around a specially designed course and run through the Turbo Rush 360 inflatable obstacle course. Each participant will also receive a free hot dog, chips and drink.

GREEN BLUFF
Green Bluff Apple Festival hosts play
As part of Apple Festival, the Green Bluff Old Orchard Theatre will present the play “Divine Stella Devine” every weekend through Sept. 30.
Show times are 7 p.m. Fridays and 2 p.m. Sundays.
The play is about an acting troupe producing a play about the Civil War. The characters include a fan who tries to steal the lead actress’ role, a bad actor who thinks he’s really fighting in the war, a stage mother and a set of twins.
The performances will be held at the Green Bluff Grange at the corner of Day Mount Spokane and Green Bluff roads.
The Old Orchard Theatre is a community organization that has staged productions for 11 years to raise money for college scholarships.
Cost is $5 at the door.
