Rezone will affect Medical Lake services

You bet Medical Lake plan draws fire!

I am disappointed by the slanted story and the slap in the face to the intelligence of the people who call Medical Lake home.

Medical Lake’s infrastructure has struggled with rapid growth. The proposed rezone to add “multifamily” housing to approximately 125 people in “Stanley Meadows” further affects emergency services and response times and raises concerns over safety, crime and noise. Medical Lake has five police officers, which equals approximately 881 citizens per officer.

There is a moratorium on building and water restrictions due to water concerns in the entire West Plains. These 7.5 acres are in the aquifer recharge area; over half consist of permanent wetlands, and habitat to multiple wildlife.

With all due respect, Mr. Amistoso and Mr. Roberts do not live in our community, have children attending our schools, or regularly support our local merchants.

The city’s vision is clear: “As a community which prizes its scenic beauty and small town character, the City of Medical Lake is committed to enhancing a safe environment and accommodating lifestyle for its citizen by providing a high standard of service.”

Make your own decision: “Google” Stanley Meadows Medical Lake WA. It tells a different story.
