Religion Notebook: Campers aim to raise awareness
Bethel Church of the Nazarene, 1111 S. Thor St., will present its annual Camp Need Saturday at noon to Sunday at 1 p.m.
Members of the church will camp in their parking lot to raise awareness of the homeless and hungry in Spokane.
They will collect donations of food, blankets, coats and money for Cup of Cool Water, a homeless mission for teens in downtown Spokane.
The church will also take monetary donations by mail.

Wine tasting
The Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes, 1115 W. Riverside Ave., will host “A Taste of Two Worlds—Old & New,” a wine tasting event Sept. 29 from 7 to 10 p.m. in the church’s downstairs dining room.
The tasting will feature more than 30 wines from Europe and the West Coast and will benefit the cathedral and Catholic Charities of Spokane.
The cost to attend is $50 for general admission and $35 for those 65 and older. Debit and credit cards will be accepted.

Special services
“St. David’s Episcopal Church, 7315 N. Wall St., will present a Contemporary Celtic Eucharist today at 7 p.m.
The theme of this service is the “Web of Life” and will include chants, piano and flute music and movement.
Attendees should bring a snack or beverage to share for after the service.

Performance, discussion
Ministers from the Spokane area Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will perform a mini-drama Sunday at 6 p.m. at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, 1926 W. Chelan Ave.
The performance, “A Public Inquiry into the Reported Resurrection of Jesus,” will deal with the controversy over Jesus’ Resurrection.
Refreshments will follow the performance.

“The American Baptist Churches of Greater Spokane will present Daniel Chetti, a missionary who has worked at the Arab Baptist Theological Seminary in Beirut, Lebanon.
Chetti will speak about the Christian Church in the Middle East and current events.
He will speak at Park Heights Baptist Church, 5101 S. Freya St. Sunday morning.

The seminar, “Static Buddha, Dynamic Buddha,” will feature a discussion, “Engaged Ministry” about the tools for embracing the ministry within through the Buddhist perspective.
