North Idaho College journalism instructor and student newspaper adviser Nils Rosdahl was recently selected as a recipient of the 2007 College Media Advisers Distinguished Adviser Award. Student Noah Buntain, of Coeur d’Alene, is also a finalist for a national award at the convention. Both are Handle Extra correspondents.

The College Media Adviser award is a national award given to an adviser with distinguished service in a particular advising area.

Rosdahl has worked at NIC for 23 years, heading NIC’s journalism program and serving as the faculty adviser to the student editors of The Sentinel, NIC’s student newspaper. He currently chairs the College Media Advisers’ Non-Daily Newspaper Division. In that role he is responsible for organizing 25-30 instructional sessions for fall and spring conventions.

Rosdahl will receive the award during the 86th annual Associated Collegiate Press/College Media Advisers National College Media Convention Oct. 24 through 28 in Washington, D.C.

Buntain, who won the Reporter of the Year Award at last year’s convention in St. Louis, is one of three finalists for the 2007 Associated Collegiate Press Two-Year Reporter of the Year Award.
