McNabb leads Eagles in rout

Associated Press The Spokesman-Review

Donovan McNabb threw for 381 yards and four touchdowns, Kevin Curtis had 221 yards receiving and three scores and the Eagles won 56-21 Sunday at Philadelphia. In a stunning offensive display, the Eagles scored touchdowns on their first five possessions and had a franchise-record 42 points in the first half. It was their most points scored since a 56-17 victory at the Chicago Cardinals in 1953.

Brian Westbrook had 110 yards rushing, 111 more receiving, and scored three TDs before leaving in the third quarter with injured ribs.

The Lions failed to earn their first 3-0 start in 27 years.

Packers 31, Chargers 24: At Green Bay, Wis., Brett Favre’s 420th career touchdown pass meant more than just drawing even with Dan Marino.

The 57-yard completion to Greg Jennings, with just over two minutes remaining, rallied the Packers past the San Diego Chargers as Green Bay remained undefeated on the season.

Ravens 26, Cardinals 23: At Baltimore, Kurt Warner orchestrated a dramatic fourth-quarter comeback, only to be outdone by another backup quarterback.

Kyle Boller, who replaced an ailing Steve McNair in the fourth quarter, moved the Ravens into position for Matt Stover’s winning 46-yard field goal as time expired.

Colts 30, Texans 24: At Houston, Joseph Addai ran for two touchdowns and Adam Vinatieri added three field goals to lead the Colts past the injury-ravaged and mistake-prone Texans.

Steelers 37, 49ers 16: At Pittsburgh, the Steelers played nearly error-free for the third week in a row, with Allen Rossum returning a kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown and Willie Parker running for 133 yards in a defense-driven victory.

Jets 31, Dolphins 28: At East Rutherford, N.J., Chad Pennington left no question whether his injured right ankle was completely healed.

Showing no ill effects from the injury that sidelined him last week, Pennington threw two touchdown passes and ran for another as he consistently moved the offense to lead New York past Miami.

Patriots 38, Bills 7: At Foxborough, Mass., Tom Brady and Randy Moss team up for touchdowns as if they’ve played together all their lives.

Brady threw two of his four scoring passes to his new deep threat, and the Patriots routed the Bills.

Buccaneers 24, Rams 3: At Tampa, Fla., hard-hitting safety Jermaine Phillips and reserve cornerback Phillip Buchanon intercepted passes as the revamped Bucs throttled St. Louis’ struggling offense.

St. Louis remained winless despite finally getting Steven Jackson involved in the offense. He had 115 yards on 30 carries.

Chiefs 13, Vikings 10: At Kansas City, Mo., Damon Huard, giving up on getting any production from Larry Johnson, hit rookie wide receiver Dwayne Bowe with a fourth-quarter touchdown pass and the Chiefs beat Minnesota.

Johnson was held to 42 yards on 24 carries.

Jaguars 23, Broncos 14: At Denver, Fred Taylor rushed for 84 yards as Jacksonville controlled the clock for nearly 39 minutes in shutting down the league’s top tailback.

Denver’s Travis Henry ran just 11 times for 35 yards.

Raiders 26, Browns 24: At Oakland, Calif., LaMont Jordan ran for 121 yards and a go-ahead touchdown late in the third quarter after Daunte Culpepper relieved an injured Josh McCown to lead the Raiders past Cleveland.

Panthers 27, Falcons 20: At Atlanta, Carolina overcame a 361-yard, two-touchdown performance by Joey Harrington and an injury to Jake Delhomme to defeat the Falcons.

DeShaun Foster rushed for 122 yards to lead the Panthers.

Giants 24, Redskins 17: At Landover, Md., a Giants defense that had allowed 80 points in its first two games allowed only 83 yards after halftime, and stopped Washington on four plays from first-and-goal at the 1 in the final minute to secure the victory.
