Springdale man in hospital after motorcycle crash

A Springdale, Wash., man was in serious condition late Tuesday after driving a motorcycle off a highway near Chewelah.

Samuel M. Wynecoop, 34, was airlifted to Deaconess Medical Center after the crash, which occurred about 12 miles south of Chewelah on state Route 231, according to a Washington State Patrol report. Wynecoop was wearing a helmet.

Troopers determined Wynecoop was not speeding and that alcohol was not a factor, a WSP dispatcher said. The State Patrol will continue investigating.
