In brief: Solid waste sites’ hours to change
The Spokane Regional Solid Waste System recycling centers/transfer stations and the Waste to Energy Facility/Recycling Center will return to regular hours on Monday.
All facilities will be open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Extended hours will resume on April 1 next year.
Beginning Monday, clean-green refuse will be accepted during all hours at the reduced rate: The first 100 pounds are free. Amounts over the first 100 pounds are charged at 35 cents per 20 pounds.
The Spokane Regional Solid Waste System provides one-stop drop sites for recyclables, household hazardous waste, garbage and yard debris at the following locations including the Waste to Energy Facility/Recycling Center, 2900 S. Geiger Blvd.

Motorcyclists to hear lawmaker
Phil Hart, an Idaho Statehouse representative, will be the keynote speaker for the National Coalition of Motorcyclists’ Region 1 meeting and seminar Saturday at the Hampton Inn, 210 S. Assembly Road.
Meetings begin at 10 a.m. and continue until 6 p.m. All motorcyclists are invited to attend this free event.

SPOKANE VALLEY
Yard sale will aid parks swim team
Intermountain Community Bank and the Spokane Parks and Recreation Department Swim Team will hold a yard and bake sale Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 5211 E. Sprague Ave. Proceeds will go toward a new touch pad system and required computer equipment for swim meets.

ALS walk planned Saturday
The Walk to D’Feet ALS fundraiser is scheduled Saturday at Mirabeau Point Park. Spokeswoman Morgan Belstad said ALS Evergreen chapters (Washington, North Idaho and Montana) raised more than $350,000 last year, and this year’s goal is $410,000. Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis is also known at Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Festivities begin at 9 a.m. with the 3-mile walk along the Centennial Trail starting at 10.
