Girls soccer

Megan Lindsey scored a goal off an assist from Erica Hart in the 79th minute to break a 2-2 tie and give Gonzaga Prep a 3-2 win over visiting Mead Friday in a Greater Spokane League match.

Mead’s Jaimey Etten scored in the 48th minute to give the Panthers (8-1, 4-1) a 2-0 advantage, but the Bullpups (5-1, 3-1) scored the next three goals.

In other GSL play, Mallory Mott’s goal in a shootout gave East Valley a 1-0 win over visiting Lewis and Clark (8-2, 3-1). The Knights (3-3, 2-2) outscored the Tigers 5-4 in the shootout after both teams were held scoreless in the first and second halves. … Courtney Stewart scored in the first half and Nichole Ervin added a second-half goal off an assist from Ali Fenter as Shadle Park (5-2, 4-1) blanked visiting Central Valley (6-3, 2-3) 2-0. … Karrie Barber’s hat trick guided Ferris to a 6-1 win over visiting North Central (0-6, 0-5). Kim Byxbee and Nicole Barber added goals for the Saxons (2-5, 2-3), who held the Indians to three shots on goal. … University scored five first-half goals and coasted to a 6-0 win over visiting Rogers (0-6, 0-5). Bri Schmedding, Jade Ratkovich, Katie Donich, Cayla Olson and Lyndy Birch scored in the first half for the Titans (4-4, 2-2) and Darian Faraca in the 65th minute.

Sarah Nemeth scored in the 74th minute on a penalty kick to break a 1-1 tie and give Orofino (3-1-2, 3-0-2) a 2-1 Intermountain League win over visiting Kellogg (5-4-2, 3-3-1).

Volleyball

After dropping its first two games, Riverside battled back to beat visiting Clarkston 19-25, 26-28, 25-23, 25-23, 18-16 in a Great Northern League match. Joni Nagy had 10 kills and 12 digs to lead the Rams (2-4). The Bantams (2-3) were led by Jaimie Berghammer, who had a match-high 16 kills and 11 blocks.
