Saturday’s A.L. results
Yankees 11, Orioles 10: At Baltimore, Shelley Duncan homered to cap a 10-run fourth inning, and a host of New York backups feasted on the Orioles’ pitching in a victory. The Yankees trailed 6-1 before nine straight batters reached to open the fourth. Duncan, Melky Cabrera and Robinson Cano each had two RBIs in the inning. Because New York had already clinched the wild card and was out of the East race, Yankees manager Joe Torre rested shortstop Derek Jeter, third baseman Alex Rodriguez and outfielders Johnny Damon and Hideki Matsui.
Red Sox 6, Twins 4: At Boston, J.D. Drew lined a full-count pitch from Nick Blackburn into the right-center field stands to lift the Red Sox over Minnesota.
Angels 3, Athletics 2: At Oakland, Calif., with manager Mike Scioscia resting many of his banged-up regulars, Kelvim Escobar earned his career-best 18th victory and Los Angeles still beat the Athletics. It was the defending division champion Oakland’s fifth straight defeat and 10th in 11 games.
Royals 4, Indians 3: At Kansas City, Mo., Joey Gathright singled home the go-ahead run in the eighth, lifting the Royals over Cleveland and ending the Indians’ hope of getting home-field advantage throughout the A.L. playoffs. The Indians already had clinched the Central title and are set to play the New York Yankees in the first round.
Blue Jays 5, Devil Rays 3: At Toronto, Adam Lind hit a three-run homer and the Blue Jays beat Tampa Bay.
White Sox 3, Tigers 2: At Chicago, Jim Thome hit career homer No. 507 and the White Sox beat Detroit.
