More meetings on pools are set

Six neighborhood meetings are scheduled for next week to plan the future development of new swimming pools across Spokane.

The projects will replace five existing outdoor pools and install a new outdoor pool in the northwest part of the city. The new outdoor pool will replace the former pools at Shadle Park. All six projects are being funded by a $42.9 million ballot measure approved by voters last year.

Residents are being asked to help the city decide what kinds of features are most suitable for their neighborhoods from traditional tank-style pools to water sprays and moving water features. Next week’s meetings will build off planning sessions held last month.

Northwest Pool, Tuesday, 6:30 p.m., Shadle Library, 2111 W. Wellesley Ave.

Witter Pool, Tuesday, 6:30 p.m., Stevens Elementary School, 1717 E. Sinto Ave.

Hillyard Pool, Wednesday, 6:30 p.m., Northeast Community Center, 4001 N. Cook St.

Comstock Pool, Wednesday, 7 p.m., Sacajawea Middle School cafeteria, 401 E. 33rd Ave.

Cannon Pool, next Thursday, 6:30 p.m., West Central Community Center, 1603 N. Belt St.

Liberty Pool, next Thursday, 6:30 p.m., East Central Community Center, 500 N. Stone St.
