Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen was fined by Major League Baseball on Friday for accusing umpire Phil Cuzzi of having a vendetta against him.

“I got fined a lot of money. That’s all I can say. A lot of money,” Guillen said before Friday night’s game against Detroit. “I could buy land in Venezuela with that money.”

Cuzzi, who was behind the plate on Monday, tossed Guillen in the third inning after he popped out of the dugout following a strike call against Paul Konerko.

“I don’t like that guy behind the plate,” Guillen said before Wednesday’s game against Minnesota. “Every time he’s behind the plate, we might have a problem.”

Guillen also was ejected by Cuzzi July 31 in New York.

Rays’ Reyes arrested

Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Al Reyes was shocked with a stun gun and arrested in Tampa, Fla., after police say he fell against a ceramic pot in a bar, got up and picked a fight with a man he thought pushed him.

The reliever apologized to teammates, fans and the Rays organization. Manager Joe Maddon said the club was not planning any disciplinary action.

Yanks deny T-shirt talk

A construction worker on a concrete crew at the new Yankee Stadium secretly buried a Red Sox T-shirt under the future visiting clubhouse in an effort to jinx the Yankees, the New York Post reported.

“We noticed that the New York Post wrote a fun and interesting story about a T-shirt today – but it never happened,” Yankees spokeswoman Alice McGillion said.
