Spokane Valley has added several baby-sitting and infant massage classes to its spring and summer parks and recreation programs.

The American Red Cross baby-sitting class, for 11- to 15-year-olds, will cover safety and emergency skills as well as bedtime issues and food preparation.

The daylong class will cost $57.

City spokeswoman Carolbelle Branch said the $18 infant massage class will teach parents how to “help in the healthy development of their babies’ brains and bodies.”

The parks department will reprise its Summer Day Camp and KinderCamp programs, which feature field trips, T-shirts and daily activities.

Children also can learn the basics of soccer, tee ball and basketball at Sport Camp. Or they can learn cheerleading and dance moves at Cheer Dance Class.

Free outdoor movies – “The Goonies” and “Bee Movie,” chosen in a community survey – will be shown at Mirabeau Point Park.
