In brief: Hunger Walk to be held Sunday
The 2008 CROP Hunger Walk will be held on Sunday and will begin at 1:30 p.m. at Gonzaga University’s Martin Center.
Registration for the 10-K or 2-K will begin at noon, with entertainment provided by the Voiceless, a homeless and previously homeless-family choir, and Good News Brothers.
Sponsors for the Walk include Arby’s, Gonzaga, Masters and Co. Printing Inc., Millwood Community Presbyterian Church, R.W. Goss Construction and the Fig Tree.
Support the hungry and bring canned food for Second Harvest.

Cheney
3-on-3 sign-ups under way
Cheney Parks and Recreation is taking registrations starting Monday for its Mayfest Outdoor 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament scheduled May 9 and 10 in Cheney.
Registrations will be accepted through April 26.
The tournament is set up in a double elimination format. All players get a T-shirt.

Spokane Valley
Dog park meeting set
Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Service will hold a Friends of SCRAPS Dog Park meeting today from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the La Quinta Inn and Suites conference room, 3808 N. Sullivan Road, Spokane Valley.
Volunteers are needed to help with the off-leash dog park located in Gateway Park just off Interstate 90 at the Stateline exit.

State karate meet at CV
The 2008 Washington State Karate Championships will be held Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. at Central Valley High School.
Entry fees will benefit the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation. Candlelighters of the Inland Northwest is sponsoring the event. Other sponsors include Service Master of the Valley and Liberty Lake Centennial Rotary Club.
