Council views library floor plan

The Liberty Lake City Council meeting held in Pavillion Park in honor of National Night Out was over quickly on Tuesday.

Library Director Pamela Mogan presented the council with a floor plan for the new library that will fill part of the building the city is purchasing at 23123 E. Mission Ave. The building will be shared with the Police Department.

The new library will have triple the space it has now and will be able to add a meeting room, a quiet reading area and a study room. The library also will have a staff room, storage and an area for the popular children’s storytime.

The plan will require some new furniture, Mogan said. “We don’t have all this furniture by any means,” Mogan said. “This is what we’re looking at for full capacity.”

The city will take possession of the building this week. Remodeling should be complete by January.

The city also is encouraging residents to give their opinion about the city’s parks and what they want to see in future parks. The survey is available at City Hall and online at www.libertylakeparks.org. Surveys must be completed by Aug. 18.

It also was announced during the meeting that a Frisbee golf course is being installed in the south end of Pavillion Park as an Eagle Scout project.
